“Newen is my first official composition. When I began composing this piece, I intended to structure it in the sonata allegro form and use traditional harmony which I feel I did for the most part. I play mostly classical piano pieces so this genre is of a particular interest to me. My biggest inspirations were Mozart’s piano sonatas which I modeled my piece after. I intended the A theme to be quick and lively and the B to be light and bouncy. The Development is supposed to be dramatic and intense (The midi track doesn’t do this justice).     The name Newen is an interesting combination of letters that does not relate at all to the song. It has absolutely no meaning and is simply an assortment of letters. I developed this title when I had to save the midi for the piece. The rest of my class gave named their pieces Untitled 1 but I decided to be different and called mine New. I decided New was a bland title and wrote it backwards after and that is the tale of how Newen got it’s name.”
