A Mouse’s Holiday

“The name of my piece is A Mouse’s Holiday. This is a short duet for English horn and bassoon. It sounds as if this is the type of music that mice would play on their holiday. It slows down in the second section, and has some interesting rhythms that are not commonly used. I have the English horn doing quarter note triplets trading off with the bassoon playing eighth note quintuplets. I originally had clarinet instead of English horn, but I changed the instrumentation. This is the first piece I have ever submitted for the Opus concert.”
