Podcast #4:Oboe

This is the fourth in a series of podcasts designed to help both students and teachers get to know and write for some of the less commonly used instruments in the orchestra.  The oboe is a member of the woodwind family.  It is terrific at playing a slow melodic line, but is also of playing staccato as well as legato, comically as well as seriously.  Listen to some of the excerpts contained within this podcast and you’ll get some ideas  for ways of composing for this versatile instrument.
